The Caribbean style of slow cooking meat formed the basis of the Southern barbecue tradition that influenced Texas when some of its first American settlers arrived.[5]Texas barbecue traditions can be divided into four general styles: East Texas, Central Texas, South Texas, and West Texas.[1] The Central and East Texas varieties are generally the most well-known.

Use Texas BBQ as a rub (moisten meats with olive oil first), on beef brisket, short ribs or pork shoulder for classic pulled pork. Then slow roast BBQ or smoke over low heat until tender. Use mix to season quick grill items like chicken, seafood, steak and cutlets. Or use as a seasoning for potato wedges, home made fries and grilled vegetables.
