Recommended by the cashier at vic basement when deciding between this and a cheaper simpler ceramic blade mandolin. A wonderful recommendation and choice! Luv the variable thickness and 3 blades. Super sharp, and blades can be repurchased. I used the thinnest julienne blade and cucumbers slide like butter, carrots and daikon were super smooth and easy too, almost fun. Only the Taro and sweet potato at the thinnest strips were harder work. But thicker strips should be easier. Overall not difficult to use or clean, just with the sides of the blade I used a brush for. As per all the suggestions on Amazon reviews I ditched the safety device and bought a cut resistant glove- a must have to keep your finger tips! I deducted 1 star because the thickness adjuster is a knob/screw and although you can change it anything between 0.3-5mm there is no indication of the thickness you are choosing. Just have to screw and slice to check for desired thickness and adjust till you are happy. Also for harder root Veges like taro, you must maintain the same pressure from beginning to end, otherwise the very tops will be thinner than the rest of the length, this is due to the thickness knob adjuster, but this is a negligible issue in a home kitchen. Hope this all makes sense!
